Professor of Politics and Coordinator, Governance and International Relations, City campus, London Metropolitan University, teaches courses on the politics of religion and international relations.

Author of 17 books and more than 100 articles and book chapters. The most recent books are: Politics in the Developing World, A Concise Introduction (2002); Comparative Politics in a Globalizing World (2005); Palgrave Advances in Development Studies (2005); The Politics of Religion, A Survey (2006); An Introduction to Religion and International Relations (2007); Religion and Development: Conflict or Cooperation? (2007); and, Handbook of Religion and Politics (2008). He holds a PhD from Staffordshire University, UK. He serves as convener of ECPR Standing Group and Religion & Politics.
