Professor of International Relations, Sophia University, Japan. David Wessels teaches international relations at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan.
He has held research positions at various institutions, including Georgetown University, Columbia University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the University of Oxford, and the University of Notre Dame, and has taught at Yale University.
Professor Wessels has published on a number of themes in international relations and political science, including human rights, the movement of people, the theory of international relations, and religion and politics. He co-edited (with Masatsugu Naya) Governance and Japan: A Search for Co-Governance (Keisô Shobô, 1997; in Japanese). He holds an undergraduate degree in philosophy and classics (St. Louis University), Master’s degrees in government (Georgetown University) and theology (Sophia University), and a Ph.D. in political science (Yale University).
